The various security companies in town, as well as SAPS, were at their posts this weekend and made every effort to catch criminals in the act.
A man was overpowered in his driveway in Nemezia Avenue, Valencia, by three armed suspects on Saturday morning. They fled with cellphones and cash, and fortunately no one was injured. Bossies Community Justice (BCJ), Hi-Tech Security Nelspruit, the police and their detective branch were on the scene.
BCJ and Hi-Tech searched the area and noticed three men running not far from the scene. They were arrested as they had no documentation or passports. According to Mr Jacques Meiring of Bossies, it was not established whether they were linked to the robbery.
Late on Sunday afternoon, BCJ and SAPS made another arrest, this time on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol.
The driver of a VW Golf TFSI was brought under their attention by members of the public, who lodged three complaints regarding reckless driving and nearly causing several accidents on the R40. The man was apprehended on the corner of Henshall and Bester streets.
On Monday morning a security officer was arrested by BCJ and found in possession of stolen air tools. The items were reportedly taken from a business in Bosch Street, and the suspect was handed over to the police.
