MASHIFANE – Tubatse police arrested three suspects who were found in possession of stationery that included exercise books, pencils, pens, calculators, mathematic sets and rubbers. The trio were arrested on March 12, during a routine search for illegal electrical connections.
Station commander of Tubatse SAPS, Col Rebecca Malatji, said the police received a tip-off which lead to the arrest of the suspects.
“We went to the house and found bags of stationery, we suspect it was stolen from local schools,” she said.
According to Malatji, the suspects confessed that they were taking the stationery to Mozambique. They are in custody awaiting trial.
Meanwhile the Tubatse police also arrested two suspects who were in possession of stolen corrugated iron sheets, three tanks and a Toyota Hilux bakkie. They were arrested on the night of March 11 during a crime prevention patrol on the R37 road in Riba Cross.
According to the police, the suspects said some of the stolen goods were in Jane Furse. They are being detained.
