Father accused of raping daughter appears in court

NELSPRUIT – The trial of a  29-year-old man whose wife apparently caught him in the act of raping their nine-year-old daughter has been set.

The accused appeared briefly in the sexual offences court yesterday. State prosecutor Ms Elise du Plessis said the trial will commence on July 23 to 25.

The man was arrested on April 13 last year. He was caught by his wife in the garden, apparently forcing his daughter to perform oral sex on him after which he raped her.

The wife contacted police officials who arrested him. He is facing charges of rape, intimidation and defeating the administration of justice.
