Bossies Community Justice (BCJ), SAPS and security companies in the area have dealt with several thefts and attempted fraud in the last week.
On Wednesday a suspect was arrested by BCJ and Hi-Tech Guards after he tried to fraudulently purchase cellphones in I’langa Mall.
According to Mr Jacques Meiring from BCJ, a vigilant Vodacom saleswoman got suspicious when the suspect presented an ID belonging to someone else but with his own photo on. He tried to purchase two cellphones valued at R15 000 but was apprehended before the transaction could be concluded.
Shortly after this incident, a similar case was reported at Vodashop near ABSA Square. The suspect got suspicious when the shop phoned BCJ and fled on foot.
This morning a plasma TV and wall mount was reported stolen from Formula 1 Hotel. Four men were arrested for theft and their vehicle seized by BCJ and SAPS Detective Branch shortly after. The TV was found on the back of the vehicle between various pieces of equipment.
The suspects will be charged with theft and possession of stolen property.
