“The docket is no longer in the station and has been transferred to the Nelspruit High Court. We are awaiting a court date by the High Court."

TONGA – The murder docket of Const Sifiso Mabuza, who was shot and killed in his home on November 9, 2013, in Langelooop, has been transferred to the Nelspruit High Court.

According to Tonga police station spokesman Lt Mziwandile Nyambi, they are awaiting a court date from the Nelspruit High Court.

“The docket is no longer in the station and has been transferred to the Nelspruit High Court. We are awaiting a court date by the High Court.” explained Nyambi.

Since the arrests of seven suspects 11 hours after Mabuza’s death, of which one of the suspects was found to be another constable.

The case has taken dramatic turns which have led to four of the suspects being released and cleared of the murder charges.

Four new suspects were linked to and arrested for Mabuza’s murder.

Messrs Victor Sibiya (23), Wiseman Ngomane (25), Sindi Richman Mvubu (23) and Ms Teressa Mabaso (30), were the new murder suspects.

Three of the new suspects were implicated after police found the gun used to kill Mabuza in possession of Mr Power Mahlalela, who told police that he was given the firearm by three men, Sibiya, Ngomane and Mvubu.

When police traced the whereabouts of the trio, they found that the men were already in custody for other crimes.

They charged the accused suspects and one of them confessed to the murder fingered Mabaso as the one who called the hit on Mabuza.

Mpendulo Makamo (25), Soneni Mhlabane (25) and Absolom Nkosi were remanded in police custody and also face murder charges after being arrested for their participation in the murder of Mabuza.

Furthermore, police believe to be in possession of the alleged trigger man, Mr Innocent Lucas Ngomane, also known as Mantinti who was arrested after a lengthily hunt last year over the festive season.

It is furthermore alleged Mabuza was one of seven police officers whose names were on a so-called hit list.

According to Nyambi, no new arrests relating to this case have been made since early this year.

Mabaso is currently the only one of all the accused, who is out on bail, and will reappear with all the other suspects once a court date has been set by the Nelspruit High Court.
