Charles Loram back in court for homicide

Loram is being charged with culpable homicide

MBOMBELA – The owner of Sound Systems, Mr Charles Loram is expected to appear in the Regional Court again on Wednesday about the death of his employee, Mr Michael Stenger (30) in 2012.

Loram is being charged with culpable homicide after Stenger was shot and killed during a botched robbery at Sound Systems on January 21 that year. In 2013 Lowvelder spoke to the victim’s family. His emotionally traumatised fiancée, Ms Rene Roestorf had commented that Michael would never come home to her again, she would never wake up to see his face again.

Loram failed to appear during his last scheduled court appearance. His attorney, Mr Coert Jordaan had presented a letter from the doctor explaining that his client was too ill to appear. Shortly after the incident, the accused sent a letter to Lowvelder in which he described how he was battling to come to terms with what had happened.

He said four suspects entered the property at about 09:00. He was apparently alarmed when the fourth man pulled a balaclava over his face before entering the office. He confronted them with a revolver and fired shots. Stenger was hit in the process.

Loram went to fetch a pistol and proceeded to fire seven more shots at the assailants. He was charged six months after the incident.
