Accused set to have heart transplant

His attorney presented medical reports stating that Loram would soon be undergoing a heart transplant.

MBOMBELA – The owner of Sound Systems, Mr Charles Loram did not appear in the local Regional Court on Wednesday of last week regarding the death of his employee, Mr Michael Stenger (30) in 2012, because he is due for a heart transplant.

Loram has been charged with culpable homicide after Stenger was shot and killed during a botched robbery at the business on January 21 that year.

His attorney, Mr Coert Jordaan, presented medical reports to the court stating that Loram would soon be undergoing a heart transplant. The case was then postponed to January 16, 2015.

In 2013 Lowvelder spoke to the victim’s family. His emotionally traumatised fiancée, Ms Rene Roestorf had commented that Michael would never come home to her again, and she would never wake up to see his face again.Shortly after the incident, Loram had sent a letter to Lowvelder in which he described how he was battling to come to terms with what had happened.

He said four suspects had entered the property at about 09:00. He was apparently alarmed when the fourth man pulled a balaclava over his face before entering the office. He confronted them with a revolver and fired shots. Stenger was hit in the process.

Loram went to fetch a pistol and proceeded to fire seven more shots at the assailants. He was charged six months after the incident.
