GRASKOP – A woman testified in court on Thursday how she had spent time in Rhenosterhoek, Sabie where five girls were apparently held captive as sex slaves to a prominent businessman. This came to light in the human trafficking trial that is continuing today at the Graskop Magistrate Court.
Mr Lloyd Mabuza (60) and co-accused Ms Violet Chauke (20) appeared on charges of rape and human trafficking for sexual purposes. They are accused of holding five girls captive for four years. The girls were apparently lured to South Africa on the promise of attending school and a better life.
The woman who cannot be identified for safety reasons, stated that her husband had worked for Mabuza. She said she had taken one of the girls to live with her when she found them. She claimed the girls were half dressed, starved and unkept and living in appalling conditions.
