Vlammie learner invited to history seminar

Limpho Gininda is also on her way to compete nationally in the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Young Historians Competition.

A learner of Hoërskool Bergvlam has been invited to attend the Oral History Association of South Africa’s annual conference to be held later in October. This is, however, not Limpho Gininda’s only achievement. She has also been doing very well in the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Young Historians Competition.

Limpho has been taking part in this national competition which will come to a close in Johannesburg at the beginning of next month. The theme is: Changes in education since the advance of democracy in the country.

She won the first place at the regional competition at Ngwenya Lodge where she spoke about how Hoërskool Bergvlam has changed from being a single-medium school to a double medium and what influence the school has on its learners. After that she proceeded to take the second place at the regionals held in White River.

For her speeches she conducted interviews with the school’s principal, Ms Annemarie Kleynhans and two teachers, Ms Zania Viljoen and Ms Sanet Steyn. She also made a video with another teacher, Mr Freddie Wells in which she interviewed some of the learners about how attending Bergvlam influenced them.

The school congratulated Limpho and said they were proud of her outstanding achievements.
