Mmiditsi bid farewell to its learners

The teachers reminded the learners that in three weeks time, the atmosphere would be different as they would be seated for their first paper.

BURGERSFORT- Mmiditsi Ssecondary School bid farewell to its 2014 matric learners during a prestigious ball held on Thursday October 2. |The event was organised at the majestic Valencia Country Lodge, which is situated between Burgersfort and Lydenburg.

More than 40 learners, flanked by their partners attended the farewell. Teachers and school-governing board members also donned stylish outfits.

Some of the learners told Steelburger/Lydenburg News that they had spent over R2 000 on their clothes.

The girls were elegantly dressed in evening gowns, complemented by their stilettos and their hairstyles were out of this world. The boys donned tuxedos and handsome designer suits.

Although some of them were without partners, they were still overjoyed by the occasion. Thabang Mabelane, a learner, informed Steelburger/Lydenburg News that he would remembered the event for the rest of his life.

“I never thought this day would be so special to us, we like the lodge, the catering and the music as well. It’s a pity that we will never have the chance to gather like this again as we will be at different tertiary institutions. We thank the school management for helping to plan our debs ball,” he said.

Teachers at the schools also shared the pupils’ sentiments. “The aim is for them to create friendships and to have fun. We wanted them to enjoy the wildlife and splendour of Valencia. As a school, we always aim high, we hope to see them excel in their studies like they did today with their outfits,” joked one of the teachers, Mr Thomas Mashego.

The teachers reminded the learners that in three weeks time, the atmosphere would be different as they would be seated for their first paper.

Messages of support and encouragement were shared by the guests, most told the pupils to fly the school flag high in the exams. Others chose to advise them about tertiary life.

Manager of the lodge, Ms Nicky van Heerden, also wished the learners good luck.
