Public violence lands 19 in court

Xenophobia is said to be behind these alleged public violence attacks.

MBOMBELA – Another public violence case from Pienaar brought 19 accused to court last Monday. They allegedly committed acts of public violence which had been motivated by xenophobia.
They are Mr Tebogo Nsimbibi, Mr Tsepo Nkuna, Mr Welcome Lekhuleni, Mr Knowledge Ngwenya, Ms Lindokuhle Shingwe, Mr Nhlanhla Mashaba, Mr Thembelani Myeni, Mr Louis Magagula,  Ms Goodness Mnisi, Mr Themba Shabangu, Mr Sizwe Ngwenya, Mr Michel Mokoena, Mr Thabo Khoza, Mr Comfort Lubisi,  Ms Sonto Nkosi, Mr Thulani Zulu, Mr Johan Madlopha, Ms Linda Mazibuko and  Mr Mandla Msibi.

On March 8, these residents of Pienaar allegedly committed acts of public violence and theft, acts for which the area is notorious. In this case, it is alleged they were motivated by xenophobia -foreign shop owners complained that they and their premises were being harassed, vandalised and looted by the accused.
They were arrested on  March 9 and appeared in court the next day. The trial has been postponed, but the date has not yet been confirmed.
