LYDENBURG – As the season of giving is upon us two Samaritans donated Christmas gifts and held a braai for the less fortunate living in Lelievlei Village on Saturday.
Lena Visser and her husband Floors, is a couple from the Full Gospel Church in Burgersfort who were touched by the living conditions in the village when they visited a friend who recently moved there.
“When I first came to this place I didn’t expect this kind of living arrangements. After my visit I knew we had to do something for these families,” said Lena.
“I saw people who needed help and I am here to help through this initiative,” she added.
“We started collecting contributions from people and church members joined in to help us make this day possible,” said Lena.
Susan Botha, one of the residents said she was very happy to be one of the people who were fortunate enough to receive gifts and attend the braai.
“I am so glad to be here, I love my gift and I am grateful for everything I have received today,” she explained.
“I would like Lena and Floors to know that we appreciate their generosity and are very grateful for what they did for us,” she added.
“We would like to thank everyone who helped us make this possible, Cheap Cheap, Magana filling station, Cienbos Trading, Judy, Talrad Eng, Burgersfort Pets, Coen van Zyl, Susan Schnolle, Full Gospel Church head office,Vanessa and Johnny and everyone who contributed,” said the couple.
