Pupil is a true blessing by returning stolen bike

A local resident, Sean Schulz, has rewarded Blessing for returning his son's bicycle which had been stolen.

LYDENBURG – The saying that if you do good, it will come back to you can easily be applied to Blessing Moima’s story.

A local resident, Sean Schulz, has rewarded Blessing for returning his son’s bicycle which had been stolen. Blessing knows Schulz’s son because they are both local racers. According Schulz, the young man is indeed a blessing to the community.

“‘We didn’t think we would find the bicycle again, and were surprised when Blessing called us with the good news. I saw it fit to do something for him after his good deed,” he added.

“I feel obliged to reward him for what he did. The bike is expensive, he showed his integrity to return it,” Schulz explained.

According to Blessing, a learner of Hoërskool Lydenburg, the reward came at a time when he really needed financial assistance.

“I needed money to participate in a race in Mbombela and I also had to upgrade some things on my bike,” he said. He did not keep all the money to himself. “I gave half of it to a friend who helped me find the bicycle.”

Blessing said if it was not for his friend, he would not have found the bike.

“When I heard about a young man who was selling a bike to a friend of mine, I went to look at it and to my surprise it looked exactly like the one that was missing.

“I made a deal with the guy, he had to give the bike to me and he would not get into any trouble.

“I know stealing is wrong, and I want him to learn from this,” Blessing explained.
