Royal loses everything in fire in home village

This is not the first time Steelburger/Lydenburger News reports about chieftains' homes being set alight in Tubatse. On October 6, 2014 a double-storey house belonging to Kgoshigadi Suzan Maisela was also set ablaze by a mob.

Meanwhile the Ohrigstad SAPS are investigating an incident after a 34-year-old man was found burnt in his shack on June 14. According to the spokesman of the station, Const Kholofelo Phokane, the man was last seen alive on June 13 at a tavern in Maepa Village.

“His relatives were concerned when they did not see him on the morning of June 14, and decided to look for him at his shack. They found it still locked and when they forced it open they made the gruesome discovery,” Phokane reported. He said upon the police’s arrival at the scene they found the man had been burnt beyond recognition.

“We don’t know the cause of the fire, but we suspect that a lit cigarette might be the cause of the fire as we found buds on the scene.

Police investigations are still continuing and the Ohrigstad SAPS appealed to the community to refrain from using alcohol.

“Those who have information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects, can contact Det Comm Martin Seabi on the following numbers 080-424-3070 or 015-615-0201. Confidentiality is guaranteed,” Setati said.
