Onderberg short of water
The Nkomazi Local Municipality (NLM) is requesting locals from Marloth Park, Hectorspruit, and Malalane to use water sparingly.
MALALANE – This follows an urgent message issued by NLM to all residents on Monday, appealing to them to refrain from gardening and washing their vehicles.
“The river is drying up as a result of the drought , making it difficult for us to pump water from the river,” Explained NLM spokesman, Mr Cyril Ripinga.
According to Ripinga last week Friday in a bid to direct more water towards the water pump, an excavator was sent in to dig up a wall.
“However, even with the wall, there is still not enough water in the river and the pumps are now sucking in mud,” Ripinga said.
NLM has said it will keep residents updated with situation via sms.
