MBOMBELA – The mystery behind the shooting at The Grove two weeks ago continues to baffle authorities and no arrests have been made yet.
An unknown group of men opened fire with a pistol and an assault rifle on a vehicle in which a Mozambican citizen, among others were travelling. She sustained minor injuries to her arm and hand.
According to an informed source, one of the occupants of the car had allegedly withdrawn R20 000 in cash at Riverside Mall earlier, but it was untouched during the shooting, therefore making the modus operandi unknown.
“The shooters never even exited their car,” he said. An eyewitness told Lowvelder that they looked like they were out to kill someone.
This was after the driver of the car sped into The Grove Shopping Centre when he realised he and his occupants were being followed.
This didn’t deter the perpetrators and they followed them after which the driver of the Range Rover stopped in front of Rochester Furniture and the BMW parked close by. The occupants of the latter proceeded to open fire on the Range Rover.
Lowvelder has been trying to make contact with the driver of the Range Rover who is apparently in Mozambique, but to no avail.
