Eco-Adventure Club members learn how to identify birds

Identifying the various bird species in the area is one of the skills Summerhill Prep School Eco-Adventure Club members are required to master this year.

During a recent Eco-Adventure Club event, Summerhill Prep School pupils brushed up on their survival skills and learnt more about bird watching.

At school, the pupils practised the various knots to reinforce their importance and were taught basic first aid and survival skills.

One of the skills pupils are required to master this year is bird identification. For this purpose, they visited Sabie River Sun’s bird hide. Armed with bird books and binoculars, the pupils tried to identify as many birds as they could manage by looking at their characteristics and habitat.

The children were thrilled when they managed to identify over twenty bird species in an hour.
