Puma scheduled to appear in court today

Louw and the complainant's disagreement outside a local pub preceded the alleged incident.

MBOMBELA – Mr Wilmaure Louw, a member of the Steval Pumas rugby team, will appear in the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court again today (Tuesday). He is being charged with pointing a gun at Mr Gabby Oliviera after the two had an argument outside Legends, a local pub, in the early hours of March 31.

Lowvelder previously reported that the centre and Oliviera had a heated conversation at 02:30, after which the two took their argument outside.

Louw allegedly pointed a handgun at De Oliviera. He appeared in court shortly after the incident and was released on a warning. Although he was initially charged with attempted murder, the charged was changed to pointing of a gun.

The case was postponed a number of times. According to De Oliviera, he went to court on July 10, but as Louw’s attorney was not present, the case had to be postponed. “On July 24, we were supposed to go on trial. One of the state witnesses was there as well, but Louw’s attorney was not ready and the case was postponed again,” De Oliviera said.

On August 21, Louw’s case was yet again postponed to September 1.
