N4 collision claims four lives

MBOMBELA – Four people including two children under one year have died when the vehicle they were travelling in overturned after colliding head on with two vehicles that were towing each other.
The crash happened this morning around 3 am on the N4 road between Mbombela and Machadodorp near Watervalboven. The drivers of the vehicles that were towing each other sustained slight injuries.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident. Mpumalanga Community Safety, Security and Liaison MEC Vusi Shongwe has learned with great shock that two children were also involved in the crash. “It is so much painful to see young innocent people perishing on our roads, ” he says.
He calls for motorists to be more cautions especially when driving at night as it is less visible on the road. He sends his condolences to the families of the deceased and also wishes a speedy recovery to the injured drivers.
