Woman nabbed when purchasing a vehicle

Members of the Hawks recently arrested a 31-year-old female for money laundering in the Hazyview area.

The suspect, Merlina Kgothatso Malele, wife of the late Mr Strike Mokwena, was arrested after purchasing second-hand vehicles with money allegedly obtained during a bank robbery in 2015 at Hazyview.

According to Hawks spokesman, Capt Dineo Sekgotodi, Mokwena shot himself in Limpopo about two months ago – during another attempted robbery.

Malele appeared in the Bushbuckridge Magistrate’s Court last week and was released on warning. The case was postponed to January 13, 2017 for further investigation.
