Refused dumper refused permission
When faced with challenges, the public may speak to the caretaker.
Community members are concerned the dumping site may create an unhealthy environment.
A resident was told he could not dump his branches and leaves because there was no ramp.
Before leaving, a worker at the site informed him that there has been no diesel for the front-end loader for two weeks.
According to a noticeboard at the site, the area is used for the disposal of general waste as well as household, garden, and business refuse. Medical waste and industrial oil may not be dumped.
When Barberton Times contacted the local municipality it claimed it had appointed a service provider to manage the site, and all plant equipment belong to them.
According to municipality spokesman Joseph Ngala, the reason why there is no ramp is because, for the past few weeks, the pathway has been too muddy.
“The dumping site is for waste management. When faced with challenges, the public may speak to the caretaker.
“The site was never closed. The pathway was also not closed. People could not drive on it due to the mud after the recent rain.”
