Two oceans marathon
BURGERSFORT - Two Modikwa Platinum Mine employees tackled what is known as the world's most beautiful race, the Old Mutual Two Oceans Ultra Marathon.
Herman Mogale and Jeffrey Nkuna participated in the marathon this past Easter weekend in Cape Town. The route is actually quite flat for the first 28 kilometres, and then starts to climb quickly as one approaches the start of Chapman’s Peak.
From Hout Bay, the route climbs again to the highest point at Constantia Nek. Thereafter the route is undulating until the finish at the University of Cape Town.
Nkuna finished in position 538 overall with a time of 4:33 and received a silver medal. Mogale finished with a time of 5:17 in position 1 784 overall and received a bronze medal. They are strongly building up towards the Comrades Marathon on June 10.
