Residents are protesting against the killings and robberies orchestrated by a well known gang in the village
BURGERSFORT- Six people were seriously injured during the community protests in Praktiseer. According to the residents, police used live ammunition to disperse community members who gathered at the Praktiseer Magistrate’s Court.
Early this morning August 14, residents blockaded roads leading to the township with burning tyres. This resulted in most people not reporting for duty and shops being closed in the area. Government departments such as Sassa, clinics,department of education and the traffic department were also affected by the protests.
Residents are protesting against the killings and robberies orchestrated by a well known gang in the village. The gang has allegedly stabbed and killed two locals in the area a fortnight ago. Some of the gang members were due to appear in the magistrate court today.
