Strings played with fiery Spanish spirit

It took the audience only a few seconds to realise why they came to watch the performance Strings on Fire.

The talented duo Dirkie van Staden (guitarist) and Johann Scheppel (violinist) performed at Café Crust on
Friday.

Strings on Fire was recently awarded best instrumental entry in the Aitsa South African Music Awards 2021.
Café Crust was converted into a festive Spanish theatre and had the guests foot-tapping and applauding
from beginning to end. Scrumptious tapas and Spanish paella added to the enjoyment.

Old favourites like “Caravan”, “Vyfster”, “Tico-Tico” and the Game of Thrones theme song were some of the
popular melodies.
The music surpassed all expectations. Both Scheppel and Van Staden played with passion and gusto.
