Laerskool Numbi athletes shine at Interprimary

Numbi's athletic team came in third overall, achieving a total of 44 medals. They beat Malelane and Graskop.

Numbi’s athletic team came in third overall, achieving a total of 44 medals. They beat Malelane and Graskop.

The seven schools that participated were Laerskool Malelane, Komatipoort Akademie, Laerskool Sabie, Laerskool Steelpoort and Laerskool Burgersfort from Limpopo and the hosting school, Laerskool Graskop.

The athletes obtained 22 gold, 14 silver and eight bronze medals. Neville Bunting won three gold in the boys’ u/11 80m and 100m, running a time of 11.41s and 14.22s, and jumping 4,01m in long jump. Gino Mkwasha flew over the hurdles and won two gold medals for the boys’ u/13 80m hurdles and 200m hurdles with times of 13.62s and 32.25s.

Rifuwo Khoza.

A new star athlete from Numbi, Muhluri Mavundla, achieved two gold for sprinting across the boys’ u/7 60m and 80m finish line with times of 10.35s and 14.29s.

Joy Kanyinda raked in four medals, three silver and one gold. When it came to running, he won the boys’ u/11 70m hurdles with a time of 12.57s and came in second in the 80m and 100m, with times of 11.53s and 14.32s. Joy also came in second for the boy’s u/11 shot-put with a distance of 7,86m.
