Security guards still on patrol on Numbi road despite recent attack
The Kruger Lowveld Chamber of Business and Tourism recently stated that it would continue to concentrate its efforts to guarding the Numbi road and keeping its tourists safe.

It is business as usual on the Numbi road, even after two Hi-Tech security guards were shot and robbed of their firearms during December as they were patrolling the area.
The Kruger Lowveld Chamber of Business and Tourism’s COO, Linda Grimbeek, said the attack did not jeopardise any tourists in the area. The security guards who were shot are doing very well.
“We are exploring all options to be implemented before the next long weekend. Meanwhile, we are on duty as usual. The security guards continue to patrol the area with aided visibility of police officers. I would like to assure tourists that they can use the Numbi road any time, because it’s safe,” Grimbeek said.

She also stated that closing the Numbi Gate would not serve any purpose, and would instead harm tourism businesses in the area.
On December 22 at 16:15, these two security guards were shot on the Numbi road and robbed of a service rifle and a pistol. A provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, said no one had been arrested yet and the police urge anyone with information to call the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111, or send information via the My SAPS app.
