Pumas’ Currie Cup fate to be decided against the Griquas
Pumas coach Jimmy Stonehouse says his troops will play for a win and semi-final spot in Kimberley.
The Airlink Pumas’ fate is in their own hands.
Their performance this Friday, June 9, will determine whether they will make it through to the play-off stages of this year’s Carling Currie Cup campaign. The defending champs will certainly hope to have a shot at defending their title.
They go head-to-head against the runners-up in last year’s competition, the Windhoek Draught Griquas. The game kicks off at the Windhoek Draught Park in Kimberley at 15:00.
The Griquas managed a win against DHL Western Province in their match last weekend, proving that they have their sights set and are eager for a second shot at the Currie Cup title.
“The Griquas are a team with their tail in the air, they are playing good rugby at the moment,” the Pumas’ head coach, Jimmy Stonehouse, said.
He said the plan is to go to Kimberley and win. “If we manage that, we still book a place in the semi-final.”
