White River greens ready to welcome golfing greats

Golfers will get a chance to warm up their irons and practise their putts for this year's Sunshine Tour during the Gary and Vivienne Player Challenge. The practice tournament is dedicated to Player's esteemed golfing career.

One of the leading professional men’s golf tours on the circuit is heading to the Lowveld at the end of August!

The Sunshine Tour recently announced it will have a series of build-up events leading up to the co-sanctioned events scheduled to take place later this year.

As part of their preparations, golfers will get a chance to warm up their irons and practise their putts during the Gary and Vivienne Player Challenge set to take place at the White River Country Club. According to a press release distributed by the Sunshine Tour on August 14, they aim to pay tribute to the golf legacy of the retired South African pro-golfer, Gary Player.

His illustrious playing career features nine major championships on the regular tour and nine major championships on the Champions Tour, which justifies why he is widely considered to be one of the greatest golfers of all time.

Player himself also managed to win the Sunshine Tour twice in his career.

Golfing fans will be able to see some of the best national and international players in action right on their doorstep, and what’s more, it won’t cost them anything at all.

Rumour has it that Player, too, will be visiting the greens of White River Country Club come August 30 to September 1.
