Lion spotted in Marloth near Kruger National Park

This lioness is described as a regular visitor to Marloth Park.

Rangers in Marloth Park spotted a lioness entering the area early on September 3. She is believed to be roaming between residential blocks.

According to a warning notice published on social media, the lioness was first seen in Block B and was moving towards Block A. Block A includes Figtree, Mispel, Crocodile, Maroela and Kiaat streets, while Block B includes Crocodile, Mispel, Maroela, Wildgoose and Volstruis streets. The post described her as “on the hunt” and moving between houses.

Nadine Edgecombe of the Marloth Park CPF explained that the lioness is no stranger to the area. “She’s actually part of a pride that lives on the river, so she normally comes into the area for a while before moving back into the park again,” she said.

Edgecombe urged residents to be wary and exercise caution while the lioness is in the area. She also asked that sightings not be posted on social media, but instead reported directly to officials best equipped to handle the situation.
