Businesswomen invest in the future of Sizo Primary learners
The school principal as well as the Mashishing Circuit officials applauded the donors for giving back to the school.
Dilapidated and incomplete toilet facilities at Sizo Primary School in Mashishing have been renovated.
This is thanks to local businesswomen Thoko Nonyane (Real Services and Logistics Pty Ltd), Jacoline Landsberg (Alba Altra Engineering), and Jode Kemp (Wilotito Construction Pty Ltd). Through their companies, the trio collaborated to renovate the toilets at the school.
The three women said they decided to partner to give back to the community and ensure that learners have better facilities.
“We are overwhelmed that staff members and learners will enjoy basic needs, which is their right,” said the entrepreneurs.
“The children of today are the future of tomorrow, and it is our responsibility to invest in and contribute to their future.”
The revamped toilets mean Sizo Primary School learners will no longer have to endure the indignity and danger of using pit toilets.
The new facilities include toilets for educators and staff.
“The new ablution facilities will dramatically change the learners’ daily lives and learning environments, and we are privileged to be part of that change,” added the businesswomen.
The refurbished toilets were officially handed over to the school on September 7, with school management, the business owners and members of the school governing body in attendance.
Sizo Primary School principal Thabo Setsoalo said he was thankful to the trio for the much-needed donation.
“We had politicians and departmental officials promising to improve our facilities, but they never delivered,” Setsoalo said.
“We are thankful for this partnership with the three businesswomen. We feel that our dignity has been restored and we will surely take good care of these facilities.”
Acting Mashishing Circuit manager MJ Ramodike said the department was proud of the donors.
“This is a symbol of love and dignity. It will boost confidence in our learners and will surely improve their academic performance,” Ramodike said.
