Woman dies in hospital after being struck by lightning

The incident occurred at Timbali Technology Incubator where the victim was an employee.

MBOMBELA – A woman(30) was struck by lightning during the storm that hit the Lowveld yesterday afternoon.

The incident occurred at Timbali Technology Incubator where the victim was an employee.

According to Mr Greg Wilcox, branch manager of ER24 Lowveld, she had no pulse when they arrived at the scene, but they were able to resuscitate her. They were assisted by paramedics of Netcare911. New information indicates that she passed away at Mediclinic Nelspruit last night.

Various trees have also been uprooted during the storm, which lasted about 30 minutes. Small hailstones fell in parts of the CBD.

Electricity supply was also interrupted in parts of the city, of which some has been restored.
