Malelane Periodical Court to institute another charge against suspected drunk driver accused of killing three safety volunteers
The accused allegedly drove into an accident scene, killing two volunteers, while a third died in hospital.
The Malelane Periodical Court has warned Zakhele Touch Dube that a new charge of culpable homicide will be added to the ones he is already facing when he appears in the same court in December.
Dube briefly appeared in the court today, Monday, October 20.
The matter was postponed to December 10 for further investigations, post-mortem reports, chain witness statements, the accident sketch plan and his blood alcohol limit report.
Dube’s R5 000 bail was extended pending his next court appearance and the court warned him to continue abiding by his bail conditions.

He allegedly drove into an accident scene at high speed along the N4 near the Jeppes Reef junction on August 23.
His vehicle knocked down three safety volunteers who were attending to an accident scene, killing two.
Donovan Prince and Zelma D’Hollander were identified as the victims.
Dube was arrested and accused of driving under the influence and causing the deaths of the safety volunteers.
A third victim, Letta Taylor, was taken to Medi-Clinic Nelspruit in a critical condition.
Taylor succumbed to her injuries in the hospital on September 11 after staying in the ICI for nearly three weeks.
Her injuries included broken legs, a fractured shoulder and serious internal injuries.
Dube’s additional charge comes in the wake of Taylor’s passing away.
During the court appearance today, Lowvelder spoke to Piet van Rensburg, the legal practitioner representing the three families who lost their loved ones as a result of the accident.
“The families have been torn apart because of this incident. They are very sad and the grieving process can only start when the matter has been finalised,” said Van Rensburg.
