Two cops out on bail after dagga arrest
Two police officers were released on bail after appearing in the Nkomazi Magistrate's Court last Monday on charges of dealing in dagga.
TONGA – Two police officers, from the KaMhlushwa Police Station, were granted R500 bail last Monday after they were arrested around 17:20 on the previous Friday for having three large bags of dagga in their vehicle.
A joint team from the SAPS Crime Intelligence and Tactical Response Team received information that the duo was transporting dagga in one of the members’ private vehicle and tracked them down.
They requested they pull their vehicle off the road and searched it to find the dagga.
They found that one of the police officers was on-duty and the other not.
The officers are scheduled to appear in the same court on July 17.

This follows the arrest of two men in Schoemansdal for possession of dagga on May 6 at around 02:30.
David Nkosi (49), a driver for the Department of Health, and Foster Zulu (42) appeared in the Boschfontein Periodical Court last Tuesday after police found them transporting dagga in a state vehicle belonging to Shongwe Hospital.
The bags of compressed dagga weighed 5,9 kilograms.

Nkosi was released on a warning and Zulu was granted R500 bail. Their next court appearance in scheduled for May 30.
The SAPS provincial commissioner, Lt Gen Mondli Zuma said that the arrests should serve as a warning to other civil servants involved in similar criminal activities.
