Ladies tee off to a great start

The Malelane Ladies Open was held at the Malelane Golf Course on Sunday June 13.

Many participants took part as prizes were won for specific achievements. At 09:00, a shotgun start initiated the beginning of the event. The ladies played the better ball format as there were two in a team.

The golf club was decorated with palm leaves by Lynette van Rensburg to represent the club as it hosts the Lalapalm Tournament every year. After the prize-giving, a lunch was prepared for the attendees.

“The day was a huge success with 44 ladies from across the Lowveld. They thoroughly enjoyed our beautiful course, or as we call it, the little Gem of the Lowveld,” said Tanya Lurie, the ladies captain and organiser of the Malelane Ladies Open.

“We encourage more ladies to join the game of golf and days like these just prove that you do not need to be a great golfer to come together and have fun.”

A shotgun start is a golf tournament format in which all groups of players tee off simultaneously from different holes. Better ball is a golf competition format in which two golfers play as a team with their own balls at each hole, where the lower of the two scores counts as the team’s score.
