Winter warmth hangs out in White River

The Free on a Tree project has been seen in many countries across the world and also provinces in South Africa; now, it has reached our very own White River.

The gist of the Free on a Tree project is to donate winter jackets to the less fortunate by tying them around or hanging them on trees.

Andrie Pietersen decided to take on the task of gathering jackets in the Lowveld. The plan is to spread them throughout Ronnie Bester Park on July 31.

She has already received some jackets and some calls from individuals who promised to donate more. “I heard about the project for the first time on RSG and decided to try it here. I was so excited on Friday when the first batch came in.

“People can drop off their donations at Ikotwe Construction at 7 Naartjie Street, White River or they can come and hang their jacket on a tree on July 31.”

The last day for donations to be dropped off at Ikotwe is July 30. She asked that all garments please be washed and ready to wear before being delivered.
