Four suspects rob undisclosed amount of cash from Hazyview filling station

Four suspects stormed into the garage and held staff hostage before detonating a cash safe and ATM

Four armed suspects got away with an undisclosed amount of cash after bombing an ATM and a cash safe at a filling station in Hazyview.

According to a provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, a group of four armed suspects driving two vehicles, possibly a blue Toyota Fortuner and a Ford Everest, stormed into the filling station today, January 10, at around 01:40.

“The suspects reportedly held the petrol attendants and security personnel at gunpoint before damaging a cash safe at the liquor store next door without obtaining any cash. They then detonated some explosives to get cash from an ATM and from the safe inside the filling station shop from where they got away with an undisclosed amount of cash,” he said.

 

No one has been arrested as yet and police are investigating a business robbery, urging anyone with information that may assist in apprehending the perpetrators to call the Crime Stop number at 0860 10111 or send information via the My SAPS app. All information received will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous.
