Preschool adopts and beautifies traffic circle in Steiltes
Elizabeth Montessori Preschool adopted one of the smaller traffic circles in the Steiltes area in August and decided to plant some greenery on it, just in time for spring.

Elizabeth Montessori Preschool recently got their hands dirty and planted a variety of greenery on the smaller traffic circle on Dr Enos Mabuza Drive, where one turns off to Steiltes SPAR on Aurora Drive, adding a beautiful new feature to the area, and just in time for spring, too!
This came after the preschool’s owner and principal, Karina Pauer, submitted a proposal letter to the technical department of the City of Mbombela on August 9 to adopt and beautify the traffic circle. She suggested that they plant hardy, waterwise indigenous plants, with the aim of improving the sense of place of the Steiltes area.

And on September 7, the circle finally got some new life!
A parent of Elizabeth Montesorri and landscaper of Launch Landscape Architect, Abbigail El Mohamadi, was the mastermind behind the project and its design. She and the school will maintain and upkeep the landscaping to ensure the long-term aesthetics of this space.
This project, however, wouldn’t have been possible without the help of the parents, grandparents, staff and learners.
Various businesses, clubs, individuals and also other schools made donations in the forms of plants and compost to help recreate the vision El Mohamadi and Elizabeth Montesorri had.

The school also worked closely with the ward councillor of the Steiltes area, Sanley van der Merwe, to ensure that the process ran smoothly.
In exchange for the landscaping and maintaining the plants at the circle, Elizabeth Montessori requested approval for the placement of a sign for the school, which would assist in creating awareness of it to the surrounding community.
Prior to September 7, the preschool learners of Elizabeth Montesorri had a day on which they planted succulents at the school to make them aware of their circle adoption project. They learnt all about succulents and the importance of protecting our precious environment and community.
