A showcase of Christmas musical soirée in Mbombela

Lowveld Chamber of Music Association hosted a showcase of the best Christmas songs and carols in celebration of the festive season.

What would Christmas be without a little get-together to spread the jolly spirit?

The Lowveld Chamber of Music Association presented a musical soirée for the season at the Penryn Chapel on November 26.

It was a moving selection of some of the best composed Christmas carols and songs, which elevated the Christmas spirit.

The concert featured the Lowveld Community Orchestra, which gave a sound rendition of “Emmanuel” and “Manuet, Trios and Polonaise”.

The orchestra was in full nostalgia mode, joining in the rest of the performers in “Hark the Herald Angel Sing”, “Somerkersfees” and “Silent Night” with the amazing Nocoré Ensemble.

Jacques Bouwer led the performers and the audience with his touching “The Holy City”.

The crowd consisting of mostly Lowvelders sang along to some of the carols, which lit up the chapel with sweet and harmonised sounds.

Nocoré’s stellar performance of “When we’re Together” stole the show. The song is about getting together during the Christmas season and it portrayed what the concert was all about.
