White River Primary athlete awarded junior victrix ludorum at Interprimary
The learners showed exceptional talent on track and field. Their medal tally is testament of their hard work and dedication.
White River Primary, celebrating its 120th year of existence, has a legacy to uphold.

Generations of learners had their names written in the history books over the years, and this year was no exception. The medal tally was a testament to their hard work and dedication. Ten gold, 10 silver and six bronze adorned the necks of their athletes after the recent Interprimary housted by Laerskool Nelspruit on Hoërskool Nelspruit’s facilities.

Fleet-footed U9 Flourish Olaifa blazed through the 60m and 80m dash in respective times of 9.29 and 12.12 seconds, bagging two gold medals and being awarded the ultimate accolade of junior victrix ludorum. Zelri Wentzel was crowned the best field athlete for her exceptional distance of 8.65m in shot put girls U12. Nyiko Mashaba bagged two gold medals in the boys U7 60m with a time of 10.06, and he ran the 80m in 13.14. CJ Makhubela won gold in the 150m for boys U12 in a time of 20.62, and so did Ciska van der Merwe in the 150m hurdles in the same age group for the girls. Genevi van der Nest’s U12 distance of 4.15m in long jump separated her from the rest, as did Mikhenzo Nyakane’s 5.05m in the boys 13 long jump.

Seamless passing of the baton led to White River Primary emerging victorious in the girls U9 as well as boys U11 relay events.

The principal, Rian Cooper, beamed with pride. “Our children have shown exceptional talent and heart. They’ve made us all proud,” he said.
