Manhunt launched for Ga-Mashishi gogo’s rapists
The rapists are still on the run. Anyone with any information is urged to contact the nearest SAPS.
The Burgersfort Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit has intensified a manhunt for two unknown men who raped a women. The crime happened on October 7 at about 01:00.
“The 71-year-old victim was asleep at her residence at Ga-Mashishi Village when she heard someone knocking on the window asking for her assistance. She told him it was late, but the man forcefully opened the door and entered the house, accompanied by an unknown male,” said the Limpopo police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba.
He said the two threatened to kill the woman and dragged her to another room on the yard and repeatedly raped her.
“The one man left his accomplice with the victim. The man fell asleep and the victim managed to escape from the room to seek assistance from the neighbours. The perpetrators managed to flee the scene to evade arrest, and the victim was later taken to a local hospital for medical examination,” said Ledwaba.

The Limpopo police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has strongly condemned the incident and ordered the police to make use of the available resources to search for the men and bring them to book.
