2-year-old dies and siblings hospitalised in Bushbuckridge

Police investigators and health experts are looking into the allegations that the kids may have eaten some contaminated food before falling ill.

The Bushbuckridge SAPS has called for calm while investigations continue after a two-year-old boy died in a tragic incident in Violet Bank earlier today, October 30.

According to a provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, the Bushbuckridge police responded to a call regarding four siblings, aged between two and five, who were experiencing stomach aches.

“The paramedics who attended the scene reported the youngest child, aged two, had already succumbed. The remaining siblings were taken to a nearby hospital, where they received medical attention. Two of the children were discharged, while the fourth one remains hospitalised,” he said.

Mdhluli said the police investigation will focus on the circumstances surrounding this devastating incident.
