UPDATE | Lowveld’s beloved Halls Farm Stall safe – no demolition for now
This well-known landmark is considered a historical asset to the Lowveld.
Negotiations to sell the land on which the iconic Farm Stall at Halls is situated recently failed.
However, Sabine Walker, managing director of Halls Properties, confirmed that the property is still on the market.
“There was a deadline at the end of November for negotiations to be finalised. This deadline was not met, thus the deal is off the table,” she said.
Walker could not divulge who the possible new owner was due to a confidentiality clause. She said although the deal is off for now, the property is still for sale.
According to her, all tenants were informed about the situation.
When Lowvelder revealed in August there was a possibility that the Farm Stall, seen by many as the anchor to the entrance to the Lowveld, could be demolished, a social media outbreak followed.

Corné Lubbe, the Farm Stall manager, was on the forefront of a campaign to stop the possible demolishing. On Monday, December 2, he celebrated the news of the failed deal with a Facebook post, saying: “No more demolishing … for now.”
