Maila welcomes 10 New Year babies in the FTLM

Maila said that population growth plays a critical role in fostering a sustainable and vibrant community.

Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality (FTLM)’s mayor, Eddie Maila, has welcomed 10 babies who were born at two local hospitals on January 1.

The visit commenced at Dilokong Hospital in Driekop where seven babies were delivered.

The delegation later moved on to Mecklenburg Hospital in Moroke which welcomed three babies.

The visit was part of the municipality’s annual New Year outreach programme, aimed at sharing goodwill with families and recognising the dedication of healthcare workers who remained on duty throughout the festive season.

“The birth of a child represents hope, continuity and the promise of tomorrow. These newborns remind us that our responsibility as leaders, parents and communities is to create an environment where every child can grow, thrive and reach their full potential,” he said.

The mayor told residents that the New Year offers a chance to pause, reflect, and start anew in personal life, community, or work, urging everyone to pursue their goals with renewed determination and optimism.

He also paid tribute to healthcare workers for their sacrifice and unwavering commitment during the festive season, acknowledging their role in ensuring the safety of mothers and newborns under demanding circumstances.
