Water shortages hit Mbombela following persistent power outages

Silulumanzi has deployed water tankers to supply affected areas as a temporary measure.

Water shortages in several parts of the City of Mombela (CoM) are being attributed to the persistent power outage that began on January 1.

According to Richmond Jele, spokesperson for Silulumanzi, the outage has disrupted operations at the treatment plant and halted the distribution of water from the Nelspruit Water Treatment Plant to local reservoirs.

“The CoM’s electrical team is on-site working to restore power,” Jele said.

• Tanker 1: Belladonna Filling Station / SPAR
• Tanker 2: Elawini Lifestyle Estate and Drum Rock
• Tanker 3: KaMagugu Complex

The team is currently busy gathering the materials needed to repair the faults.

The estimated repair time is between three and four hours. Updates on the repairs will be provided.
