Panorama Route attractions open to tourists again

Some tourist sites managed by the MTPA were closed for over a week to prioritise the safety of employees and visitors.

The tourist sites on the Panorama Route, managed by the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA), are now open.

This follows a 10-day closure that began on January 12, due to heavy rainfall in the Lowveld. The affected sites were Bourke’s Luck Potholes, God’s Window, the Three Rondavels, and Swadini Forever Resort.

The spokesperson of the MTPA, Simphiwe Shungube, said the reopening follows a comprehensive assessment conducted after recent severe rain that affected parts of the tourism sector.

Shungube said visitor safety remains a top priority. He urged caution when exploring the sites, as some roads may still be slippery.

He said MTPA employees will be present at all sites to assist visitors.
