Police arrest 60-year-old at Nkomazi Toll Plaza in hijacked Hilux
Collaboration with a vehicle tracking company led to the discovery of the bakkie's true registration and further vehicle recoveries in Ehlanzeni.
A 60-year-old driver was arrested at the Nkomazi Toll Plaza on Sunday, September 27 for possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle.
According to Mpumalanga police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane, members were on duty conducting stop-and-search operations when they spotted a silver Toyota Hilux double cab approaching the toll plaza.

Ndubane said officers stopped and searched the bakkie, which was fitted with Mpumalanga registration plates.
In collaboration with a vehicle tracking company, police retrieved the vehicle’s correct registration details and confirmed it had been hijacked in Mbombela.
The suspect was charged with possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle and is expected to appear in the Barberton Magistrate’s Court soon.
Task team recovers 3 more vehicles in Ehlanzeni
Three other hijacked vehicles were recovered across the district by the Ehlanzeni Anti-Hijacking Task Team over the weekend of September 26 to 27.
