TS Galaxy move out of relegation zone

The Rockets' future is now in their hands.

DStv Premiership side TS Galaxy gave their supporters and the people of Mpumalanga a reason to celebrate when they registered a hard fought 1-0 victory against the Soweto giants Orlando Pirates at the Mbombela Stadium on Monday.

This victory helped The Rockets move farther away from the relegation zone. By Tuesday morning, Galaxy were sited on position 13 on the table with 26 points.

They were followed by Maritzburg United on the 14th spot with 24 points and Swallows FC on position 15 with 23 points.

Still trailing at the bottom of the table were the Limpopo-based side Baroka FC with 18 points.

Lifa Hlongwane’s first half-goal was enough to secure all three points for The Rockets as they hunt for points to help them stay alive and keep their Premiership status.

This win against the Buccaneers will always go down in the history book as one of Galaxy’s biggest achievements.

The victory comes just moments after the Pirates have been found guilty of denying Galaxy boss Tim Sukazi access to the Orlando Stadium field and changing rooms during their DStv Premiership match in December 2021.

Sukazi was manhandled by security officials and was not allowed onto the playing field.

Premier Soccer League (PSL) prosecutor Zola Majavu confirmed that a disciplinary committee hearing found the Soweto giants guilty of bringing different stakeholders into disrepute.

“The PSL disciplinary committee has just returned a guilty verdict against Orlando Pirates. This is a result of Pirates being found to have unreasonably denied Tim Sukazi access to Orlando Stadium when he was entitled to do so. In the result, Orlando Pirates was found to have brought the league, the game, the South African Football Association, the Confederation of African Football, Fifa and the sponsors into disrepute,” said Majavu.
