Tough test awaits Airlink Pumas in Bloemfontein

The Airlink Pumas will face their toughest challenge of the season so far when they take on the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein later today, April 5.

A stern test, and their toughest one of the season so far, awaits the Airlink Pumas at Toyota Stadium where they face the Cheetahs this evening, April 5.

Both the Cheetahs and the Pumas go into their encounter off the back of resounding victories in their first two matches of the inaugural SA Cup competition. In round one, the Cheetahs welcomed the Boland Kavaliers to Bloemfontein, winning comfortably with a score of 38-7. Next was the Leopards in Potchefstroom, who they dully dispatched by winning 76-5.

The Pumas have enjoyed a similarly successful start to the season. They downed the SWD Eagles 43-22 in George in the opening round, following that up with a 61-0 whitewash of Eastern Province at Mbombela Stadium.

With each side boasting two bonus point wins, the Pumas and Cheetahs both stand on 10 points so far. However a superior points difference puts the Cheetahs in second and the Pumas in third. The Griquas currently top the SA Cup log ahead of their clash with the Border Bulldogs this weekend.

For the Cheetahs game tonight, Pumas coach Jimmy Stonehouse has named an unchanged starting XV from the Eastern Province game. The only change to the matchday squad seems Lungi Msenge come in for Kabelo Mokoena in jersey number 23.

The Pumas will line up against the Cheetahs as follows:
