Adventurers’ spirits soar on Sabie River, in bicycle seats and on running trail

An adventure race series is planned for 2025, which will include orienteering and abseiling.

212 Adventures held its inaugural Adventure Race at Induna Adventures on Saturday, November 30.

“It was an amazing experience,” said Charl Naudé of 212 Adventures.

The race consisted of a 4km inflatable canoe leg on the Sabie River, a 4km run and a 7km mountain bike ride. Four teams of four members each competed.

The event was not so much about winning or coming second, it was a test run for bigger events that 212 Adventures plan for 2025.

“We live in such an amazingly beautiful area, and how better to discover and explore it than on a river, on a bike and in a pair of running shoes? The canoe leg was breathtaking. Fortunately it was overcast, but the low water level was a challenge for the competitors. The run was easier and the last leg, the cycling, was done over two laps of a 3.5km course.”

This sport offers the best for character building and team work. 212 Adventures plans to add abseiling and orienteering to future events.

“Thank you to Induna Adventures for the use of their facilities. Keep an eye on Lowvelder for more about an official adventure race series next year. Adventure racing is a sport in which each competitor can regain hope and enjoy the true joy of living,” Naudé concluded.
