The audience thoroughly enjoyed the conversations with the rugby legends, often finding themselves in stitches of laughter.

The Airlink Pumas hosted yet another successful Rugby Legends Breakfast at Emnotweni Arena on November 28 as Lowvelders revelled in great stories from South African rugby royalty.

Fast becoming a favourite annual tradition for rugby fans in Mbombela and the Lowveld, the SPS/Airlink Pumas Rugby Legends Breakfast Morning offers Lowvelders the opportunity to enjoy rugby stories and insight from legends of the sport.

Breyton Paulse returned to once again serve as the master of ceremonies and facilitator of the morning’s conversations.

Paulse was joined at various stages of the morning by a range of rugby personalities and notable figures, from former players to senior administrative staff.

First to join him on stage was 1995 Rugby World Cup winner Kobus Wiese, who ended up staying on with Paulse to chat with the guests that followed.

Pumas president Andries Visser also made an appearance, along with Pumas CEO Marius van Rensburg, to give attendees some behind-the-scenes insight into the Pumas’ administration.

Current Pumas player Nevaldo Fleurs and Pumas captain Willie Engelbrecht also had the opportunity to chat and share what it’s like to play under their legendary coach Jimmy Stonehouse.

The highlight of the morning was however when Wiese and Paulse were joined on stage by legendary Springbok fly-half Naas Botha, 2007 Rugby World Cup winner Gary Botha and Stonehouse himself. These five rugby personalities shared great stories and brilliant insights into both past and present rugby.

Each of them was as sharp with their wit and humour during their stories as they were with the rugby ball back in their playing days.

Signed jerseys from each of the rugby legends that attended were auctioned off to the attendees to round off a brilliant morning that was thoroughly enjoyed by all in attendance.
